There’s nothing more special than capturing images of first yawns, first cuddles and meeting siblings for the first time.
Capture their tiny feet, hands and noses.
Capture the quite moments of getting to know one another.
A Canberra Hospital photo session, a Fresh 48 session, is a unique, very special session that occurs in the first few hours of a new bub’s life. It is perfect for those who want the first few hours of their newborn’s life captured without having the entire labour or birth documented. Held within the first 24-48 hours of arrival, this “lifestyle” session is perfect for remembering the first few hours forever.
WHEN SHOULD YOU BOOK YOUR SESSION FOR?
Your Fresh 48 session will take place during daylight hours as soon as possible after bub is born. (I schedule the session for 9am, the day after your due date as a place holder in my diary) I come to your place of birth (or home if you are discharged within 24 hours). I like to be there as soon as possible, so the sooner you let me know bub is here, the better!
Your session is dependent on when bub actually arrives, so I ask that you let me know as soon as you go into labour, and then immediately when bub is born so I can arrange to get to you within the first 48 hours.
WHAT STYLE IMAGES WILL YOU RECEIVE?
My style for these sessions is lifestyle (minimal posing, using the available light) I capture the relationship between the new bub, parents and siblings. I will also capture individual shots of bubba. I’ll direct you on how to hold bub, and what to do with bub so your love and joy comes through in the images.
HOW LONG WILL YOUR SESSION RUN?
Your session will run for up to 20 minutes, (typically I’ve captured what I need within 15 mins) and will capture whatever is going on when I arrive. There is plenty of time during the session for nursing, changing and cuddling bub. I will take your bub’s lead and allow him/her to be the focus of the shoot.
WHAT TO WEAR
As far as what to dress you and your partner in, keep it simple. Throw in colour if you’d like, but skip the busy patterns. I suggest cotton knit camis, maxi dresses, a cardigan, knit tops and jeans. Just remember…simple, solid or subtle patterned and neutral works best and helps keep the mood soft, with the focus on bub. Stay away from prominent logos, licensed items or writing on clothing.
If siblings will be in the images, it is best to go with siblings in solid, neutral colours (eg: cream, white, grey), so that the focus can still be on bub.
However, at times, what to wear will take a backseat to events, so please, don’t stress too much about this. The focus will be on bub and the connection you have, and I will shoot the session around you feeling like you’ve just been hit by a truck!
WHEN WILL I GET TO PURCHASE THE IMAGES FROM MY SESSION?
I’ll schedule your ordering session at the end of your session. It is usually within 1-4 weeks of your session that I’ll be able to get you in the diary, depending on your availability aligning with mine.
Please note that ordering sessions are held during the week, as weekends are held for photography sessions.
Your ordering session is where you will view amazing images I’ve captured for you for the first time. These will have been narrowed down to show you the best of the best from your session.
I will help you shortlist your favourite images, discuss your requirements and use visualisation software to show you how your images will look best on your walls.
You’ll choose a variety of heirloom quality products including albums, folio boxes and wall pieces. I’ll expertly guide you through the best products for your lifestyle. Your ordering session is where you will choose your printed products and digital images; and make payment for your purchases.
This is not a hard process! Time and time again, clients have told me how easy I’ve made this process for them. The only hard part will be choosing your favourite images.
I realise that it can be difficult visualising the size of your products in relation to where you’d like to display them in your home. I use software that makes this a breeze, simply take a photo of an A4 size piece of paper against the wall you’d like to use, and send a photo to me. The software will do the rest for us!
